Creating The Base Of The Lamp
Here are the steps on how you can create the base of your lamp.
Step 1: Connect 2 ½-inches x 3-inches nipples into a tee threaded pipe.
Step 2: Connect two elbows onto the revealed end of the ½-in x 3-in nipples as this will be used as one of the lamp legs.
Step 3: Repeat the steps for the other leg of the lamp.
Step 4: Attach 2½-inches x 3-inches nipples into a tee threaded pipe for the middle bar. Connect the center part into the legs that you created in Steps 2 and 3. You now have a base for your lamp.
Creating the Body Of The Lamp and Its Wiring
Step 5: Connect a close nipple into the end of a tee threaded pipe. Next is connect a strain relief fitting into the back of the tee threaded pipe.
Step 6: Connect the ½ x 10-inches nipple into the top of the tee threaded pipe. Embed the lamp wire through the strain relief fitting up to the 10-inch nipple's neck.
Step 7: Put an elbow and the ½ x 6-inches nipple to the top of the construction.
Step 8: Connect another elbow onto the end of the ½-inch x 6-in nipple. Then pass the lamp wire through.
Step 9: Thread a close nipple into the ¾ to 1-inch coupling, and fit the rubber bushing that's usually the color white and silver threaded rod from the lamp kit to the inside of the coupling. Thread the ¾ to 1-inch coupling to the ½ to ¾-inch coupling.
Step 10: Let the wire pass into what you created in Step 9 and thread it into the elbow.
Step 11: Connect the socket base onto the threaded rod in the assembly created in Step 9.
Step 12: Attach the lamp wires to the socket.
Step 13: Put the socket into the socket base.
Step 14: Screw in the bulb, tighten the strain relief fitting on the lamp's back. Switch your new steampunk lamp on to check if it's working.
